During my time at the Graphics Center, I had the opportunity to collaborate with another designer on a mural for the University of San Francisco Student Center. The brief challenged us to create a design that embodies the university’s Ethics of Care: care for yourself, others, and the world.

One of the main design challenges was adapting the artwork to fit across the wall’s built-in panels. To address this, we developed a modular composition that reads as a cohesive unit while aligning intentionally with the panel structure to avoid visual disruption.

We chose a set of simple, meaningful icons that represent our personal interpretations of the Ethics of Care. These minimal forms allow the imagery to be understood at a glance and maintain visual balance on a large scale. A bright, bold color palette was used to energize the space, reflecting the natural light from nearby windows and creating a welcoming, uplifting environment for students to gather and study.
